Decode {2013}
This is my piece for ReDiscovery. It’s an art show inspired by Daft Punk over at Gauntlet Gallery in San Francisco. It’s a bit of a celebration for Random Access Memories. Opening reception is on May 18th, which I think is today. If you live near by, do drop by.
I’m pretty excited about the show actually. Some really amazing artists are going to be a part of it like Phil Noto, Andre De Freitas, and John Larriva. Great stuff! Should be an amazing show.
This is the first time I’m going to be a part of a show with a really amazing collection of artists, so I’m really stoked.
BTW, this piece was inspired by Get Lucky. Aw yiss…

I honestly can’t think of a single magical girl show that fits the genre’s stereotype. Sailor Moon wasn’t smiles everywhere, and their uniforms were relatively simple. PreCure features hand-to-hand combat. CardCaptor Sakura doesn’t have an actual villain. Mermaid Melody doesn’t have any fighting, just singing. Tokyo Mew Mew’s powers come from science. Even Madoka’s magical girls that poke at the genre weren’t the stereotypical sparkles, rainbows, and ruffles. I could go on and on with this list.submitted by naniyou
